LEVAR, Luka1922 - 2010Born on November 11, 1922 in Zeljava, Lika, Croatia, Luka passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 18th, 2010, at the Royal Columbian Hospital. Luka was predeceased by his wife, Jelena; his parents, Mate and Magdalena Levar; his brother, Pere; and his sister, Kata. Luka is survived by his son, Peter (Linda), granddaughter, Kristina (Mario), and brother Nick (Mara) of Croatia. Luka married Jelena November 27, 1948 in Prodravski, Podgajci. He, Jelena and Peter immigrated to Canada in 1957, residing in Winnipeg until 1969, when they moved to BC. Luka was proud of his Croatian culture and a member of the Croatian Catholic church. He enjoyed making his own wine, eating Jelena's meals and playing cards or Bocci with friends. His family wishes to thank the staff at Burquitlam Lions Care Centre for their excellent care and support. A private memorial service was held at Ocean View Burial Park on Wednesday, July 21. If you so wish, a donation to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.
