When a funeral goes smoothly, it is not by accident or good luck, but
because no detail has been overlooked. Every team member has
been highly schooled in every aspect of old-fashioned service with
excellence.
Well before the family and friends arrive for the service, the
director meets with his or her team and assigns their
responsibilities. Every one from the pianist, who can play a
wide selection of music from popular tunes to more traditional hymns
and familiar classics, to the person greeting the friends and
relatives, directing them to the location of the service, is given a
list with their assigned duties. Everything possible is done to
make certain each funeral meets the demanding standards that have
singled out Burquitlam Funeral Home since 1962 as the Family Funeral
Home of choice for hundreds of families.
 |
Rob McCormick - Rob
has been the owner of Burquitlam Funeral Home since 1992. Born
into a family of funeral directors, his decision to join the
ranks came after attending Royal Military College in Kingston,
Ontario. Rob and Tammy, their daughter Patricia and
son Ayden live in Anmore. Rob's fairness, understanding and sense of humour
have been a constant source of strength to all those he
contacts. |
 |
Steve Hosking - Steve is the General Manager of
Burquitlam Funeral Home. Steve, Paula and son Tyson
make their home
in Port Coquitlam. As a non-family member of the staff, he
is fondly referred to as "The Referee". (Managing a family
owned business has its moments!) He imparts a sense of security
and fairness to the entire staff. Steve is the son of
Archdeacon Al Hosking, a retired Anglican clergyman who presides
over many services at Burquitlam Funeral Home. |

 |
Randy McCormick - As 'dad' to the rest of the staff,
Randy brings over 30 years of experience in funeral service to
Burquitlam Funeral Home. He writes weekly articles for
local newspapers and oversees much of the Public Relations
duties. Randy firmly believes that one should balance
business life between learning, working and teaching. He
now enjoys the 'teaching' stage of his career. Randy is
married to Dee. Their little black pug dog, Muffin, is usually
at their side. |
 |
Dee McCormick - After being a full-time mom, Dee
originally worked part-time in the main office and once she
started, she never looked back. "Mom" is now manager of
Rob's Port Coquitlam arrangement office. She is district
registrar as well as a licensed Funeral Director. Dee and
Randy were married in 1969 and are proud of their 'funeral
director' family. Now grandchildren expand the family
circle even wider, much to Gramma and Grampa's delight. |
 |
Raeanne Leduc - Randy and Dee are blessed with twin
daughters, Raeanne and Rochelle. Rae has worked in the family
business as a 'Funeral Director' for many years after having
enjoyed successful careers in the world of marketing and
commerce. Rae's husband Jay, a West Vancouver firefighter, and
their son Jaxon help focus energy on true family values. She is
the 'sportswoman' in the family, successfully competing in
'Open' and 'AAA' volleyball. As a workshop presenter at the
World Gathering on Bereavement in August 2005, Rae is making her
mark on the speaking circuit. |
 |
Amy Dureau -
Amy joined Burquitlam Funeral Home as Office Administrator
in 2001. As a single mom, she knows the true meaning of 'work
ethic' and is devoted to her daughter Stephanie. Amy's warm
manner and genuine caring endear her to all who call us for
assistance. All are assured that they are in the best of hands
when they hear her voice. |
 |
Wally Shea -
Wally is in
charge of Burquitlam's entire Pre-Planning program, but seems to
be everywhere when it comes to helping. He is married to Gayle
and they have two children, April and Stephen. They are very
active in the Anglican church where Wally is an accomplished
musician. Wally is a valued asset to the staff and provides an
important connection to those wondering where to turn for
answers. Wally is a C.P.C. (Certified Pre-Planning Counselor)
and assists families in filing Canada Pension Plan forms as well
as helping with the Executors Toolkit. |
 |
Debbie Kohler - Debbie was born in Abbotsford B.C. and
was raised in Aldergrove where she still resides with her
husband Andy. She complements the staff in so many ways and her
bubbly personality and special gifts of caring endear her to all
she meets. After 12 years of pursuing her dream, she has finally
fulfilled her life's goal as a licensed funeral director and
embalmer. |
 |
Muffin the Pug - Muffin is the resident 'pet therapist'
at Burquitlam Funeral Home. She plays a very important
role in the healing process of many we serve. 'Pet
therapy' is quickly being recognized as being helpful to those
experiencing a loss. One only has to look at her quizzical
little expression to acknowledge the famous quote: "The
entire of the unknown is summed up in a pet's adoring gaze." |
